In yesterday’s post about the U.S. Senate bill that creates a tax break for consumers who purchase vehicles that are valued at over $49,000 (Cantwell Nay, Murray Yes; it passed 71-26), we reported that “Sen. Murray’s office didn’t return a call to explain her vote.”

Bad form on our end.  We forgot about the 3-hour time difference.

Sen. Murray’s office called back today to address Murray’s vote.  ”The auto industry is hurting,” Murray spokeswoman Alex Glass says, “and this was one way to help our auto industry.”

  1. Uncle Vinny says:

Yeah, it’s a shame that the auto industry can’t sell >$50k cars… so let’s help a few rich people be able to afford ‘em. Impossible to think of any other way to assist the industry…
